It’s been almost one year since I quit my job to become a stay-at-home mom. I left a fast-paced job as a Director for a super busy, large OB/GYN practice to spend more time with my daughter. A job that was filled with meetings, initiatives, budgets and percentile scores to a new job that revolves around dishes, laundry and entertaining a 2-year old by letting her scan our groceries in the self checkout (you can see off my shopping experience in my Google+ album). Now instead of wearing business suits and heels, you will frequently find me in my workout clothes and running shoes. I can’t promise that I’ve showered but I will guarantee that I’ve brushed my teeth.

I love my daughter more than life itself, I think all moms feel that way about their children. But let’s be real and honest here. When you are with them basically 24-7, you both need a break from one another. It’s great when daddy can take her to the park or play ball with her in the backyard but those moments are few and far between. Every super mom needs some time to themselves and the time of day I look forward to is nap time. Yes, those few precious hours where I can kick back and have some time for myself. A time for me to get my afternoon-pick-me-up. I’ve never been a coffee drinker so imagine my surprise when I discovered I enjoyed, no let me rephrase, loved iced coffee. On really stressful days at work, I would head down to the third floor and get my iced coffee fix. Now that I no longer have the convenience of the third floor, I make sure I have some International Delight Iced Coffee in the refrigerator. You never know when nap time is going to happen in my house so a mom has to be prepared!

Now my idea of an afternoon pick-me-up may be a little unconventional for most of you. In addition to all my other roles (wife, mom, daughter, blogger, moms group organizer, yada yada yada), I’m also a full-time graduate student working towards my Masters in Healthcare Administration. So for me, sipping on some iced coffee while I’m outside on my screened in patio (no bugs – yay!) with my laptop open and reading about ethics and legal aspects of healthcare is a way for me to rejuvenate.

I’ll be completely honest. It’s not every day that I crack open the books. Some days are all about researching our next vacation destination, browsing Pinterest for inspiration or checking out some of my favorite blogs. Occasionally when my daughter is not in the napping mood, we’ll sit outside together and have an afternoon snack. Her beverage of choice is typically apple juice, mine of course has to be iced.

After emptying off a glass of International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee (my favorite flavor), I’m ready to tackle the rest of the afternoon. Afternoon that consists of making this…

And cleaning up this…

International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee can soon be found in Sam’s Club in the refrigerated section. So when you’re doing your weekly or monthly run to Sam’s Club, you can now add this to your grocery list. With a play room like my daughter’s, I definitely need to buy in bulk!
If you love International Delight as much as I do, make sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter to find out about all of their latest products and promotions.

and oh how do you supposed to clean up that kind of mess
I’m not a coffee drinker myself, but if I were I would like how this saves money over running to the coffee shop!

I could use some iced coffee right now. It’s so hot here and hot coffee just doesn’t do the trick. Great post.

You’re brave to post that photo of your living room!
Naptimes are my fave in my house- it’s my chance to sit back with a pint of mango sorbet!
Haha, I almost didn’t post it for a second but hey, it’s reality! Thankfully the majority of her toys are downstairs so no one sees them.
I love this iced coffee too! Where’s you get your glass?
The brand sent it to me. Isn’t it a great color?
Looks like you took a much needed break!!! Love your afternoon ritual!!! TYVM
Only 3 more weeks of this quarter and then I get a week break from school. Think of all the time I can spend on Pinterest…I can’t wait!
I love the picture of your daughter helping you check out at the store. How adorable is your little girl? Too cute for words.
I’m not one for coffee, but MAYBE Iced Coffee, huh? I’m always in need of an afternoon pick me up, this may just hit the spot.

I’m not a hot coffee person either but I do really like this stuff! I’m wondering how it would taste over a scoop of ice cream….
