Week 3: Insanity & Shakeology Challenge – PB2 Where Have You Been My Whole Life?

My goals this week are to work out before 8 pm, go to bed before 2 am and get up before 8 am.  Lofty goals, I know.  Even for a self-proclaimed night owl, getting 5-6 hours of sleep each night is starting to wear thin.  Last night, I started my workout at 11:45 pm!!  Even though I’m doing the work-outs, I don’t feel I’m giving 100% and the my weight loss results reflect it.  This week I only lost .2 lbs for a total of 2 lbs from the start of the program.  Even though I went into this only wanting to lose 5-6 lbs, I’m disappointed in myself.  I know, I still lost and didn’t gain but .2 lbs?!

My Team Beachbody Coach and friend, Rebecca, introduced me to a new product this week.  She knew I was have a difficult week and because she is so sweet and awesome, showed up with a jar of Chocolate PB2.  As I’ve mentioned before, my favorite way to drink Shakeology is with unsweetened almond milk, a tablespoon of peanut butter and some ice, blended together.  Well, peanut butter is a great source of protein (and tastes freaking good too) but it has 95 calories and 8 grams of fat per tablespoon!  With my poor weight loss last week, I need to make better food choices and that’s where PB2 comes in.

I think all the health food nuts (haha, pun intended) know about PB2.  Peanuts are slow roasted and then pressed to remove the fat and oil.  If you get the chocolate version they add finely ground cocoa beans that tastes great and is healthier than traditional peanut butter.  The mixture comes in a powder and that you mix water until smooth.  At 22.5 calories and .5 grams of fat per tablespoon, I’ll never eat regular peanut butter again!

I also told you last week I would share the results from my fit test.  I probably should have done a fit test the day I started the program but instead used the one from last November when I had every intention of doing the 60-day Insanity challenge, only to give in to the holidays and let it ALL go.  My results are mixed.  I stayed pretty flat in most areas did much better with my power jumps and much worse with my low plank obliques!  Now I know what areas I really need to focus on.

This week is going to be a good week.  I can feel it.  I’m going to start taking better care of myself and give my body the sleep it needs to regenerate and recover.

And no, PB2 did not provide me with free product (my friend Rebecca did) or pay me to write this post.  I know how hard it is to lose that last 5 lbs and every little secret or tip that I learn along the way, I’m sharing them with you!

(And that PB2 looks amazing. Wish you didn’t tell me about it!)

    • I have to have peanut butter in my shakes to cut down the chalkiness of the powder and this does a great job. Warning, a small jar goes fast! I’m going to buy it in bulk!
