Seriously, it really is the best marinade ever. I go back and forth between dry rubs and wet ones and for pieces of meat that can dry out quickly on the grill, I prefer wet marinades. I’ve tried several marinade recipes over the years and I keep going back to this one. It marries well with beef or chicken but my personal preference is on chicken. Best of all, it uses simple ingredients that most everyone has in their pantry!
- 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 3/4 cup canola oil
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped
Here’s a little trick I learned. Take a plastic bag and place it in a standard drinking cup. You’re less likely to make a mess this way! Combine all the ingredients in the bag, remove the bag from the cup and place your meat in the bag. Marinate for 3-4 hours in the refrigerator before grilling.
Now if that’s not a simple marinade, I’m not sure what is! So if you’re firing up the grill, try this and tell me what you think. I’d love to hear your feedback!
