We have had some wicked crazy heat so far this summer! When temperatures are hot outside, our family is sure to do a couple of things: take a trip to the local water park and cool off with some frozen treats. After enduring another round of temperatures in the 100º range, I thought it would be fun to celebrate National Strawberry Sundae Day with some TCBY Frozen Yogurt.

Find TCBY Frozen Yogurt at your local Walmart #TCBY Grocery #CBias

National Strawberry Sundae Day was on July 7th. Because I was in Chicago on a business trip, my family and I celebrated a few days later. The first thing I had to do was head to my local Walmart and stock up on some Strawberry Swirl. This flavor comes in quarts and pints. I picked up one of each because I wanted to slice my frozen yogurt (yes, you read that correctly) for the sundaes I planned to make. You can see my full shopping experience in my Google+ album.

I knew I wanted to put some of the sundaes in these small mason jars I had so the first thing I did was grab a cookie cutter and cut flower pieces out of the yummy strawberry swirl loaf cake I picked up. The flower piece fit perfectly in the jar. I then layered TCBY Strawberry Swirl Frozen Yogurt and freshly cut strawberry pieces on top. I then placed another layer of loaf cake and frozen yogurt and topped with some whip cream. Super easy and super fun!

Doesn’t those look yummy?
Warning! This frozen yogurt melts fast so a word to the wise. Give your 2-year old their own cookie cutter and a piece of bread. Upon reflection that would have been the better route to go instead of letting her directly help me. After she ate two of the flowers I cut out, I knew I was in trouble! I also made the same strawberry sundae but made them a little fancier for myself. In the “adult” sundae I removed frozen yogurt from the pint and sliced it up. I then placed a slice in each bowl and stuck it back in the freezer for 30 minutes to harden back up and then added the strawberry cream cheese loaf cake, strawberries and whipped cream.

You can tell how hot it is by her sweaty little head! B loved her strawberry sundae and it helped to cool her off. I enjoyed getting to spend some one-on-one time with my daughter after being gone for a few days. Sundays are definitely meant to celebrate with sundaes!
