Last week was bittersweet for me. After finally making the decision to move our family, we had the harsh reality of packing up our home and loading all of our things onto a moving truck. As the truck pulled away, we then had the daunting task of figuring out how to fit everything that didn’t make it onto the truck into our cars.
We “downsized” to a 26″ trailer.
If you’ve never used professional movers before, let me tell you about some of their rules. They completely make sense but can be a bit annoying at times. First of all, they will not take any liquids. All your cleaning supplies? Either haul them in your car or donate them to a friend. Another no-no? Candles. Because, sitting in a hot truck, they’ll melt and who wants to deal with that mess. So, in addition to two dogs, my daughter, all of our clothes we’ll need for the next month (because we haven’t found a house yet – ugh), toys, carpet cleaner, vacuum and even more things that I’m not sure why they didn’t make it on the truck, our cars were overloaded.
Finding my stuff was a mad house. Things I needed were in separate bags, in different cars. After being frustrated about not being able to find my stuff, I finally had a lightbulb moment and remembered my ChicoBag reusable bag. Love this little bag, it can be so useful for so many things. Daytrips, beach, shopping. Traveling you never have enough bags to put things in. Plus you can now buy the extra things you love, just open the bag and pack it in.
