I am soooo excited to announce that I’ve been chosen to be a Chicago Cutlery Mom Amabassador! That means for the next couple of months I’ll be sharing my experiences using Chicago Cutlery knives and hopefully (crossing my fingers here), wowing you with my new mad chopping skills!

If you’re not familiar with Chicago Cutlery, according to their website, they begin in 1930 as a knife conditioning service that catered to professional butchers and packing plants. When the demand for sharp knives increased, Chicago Cutlery evolved into a knife manufacturing business for the meat and poultry industry. In 1969, Chicago Cutlery entered the retail market with professional cutlery. They eventually became available to the everyday consumer.
How many of you are really comfortable when it comes to using your knives? I think I do a decent job, meaning so far I haven’t cut off a finger, but I know that I can vastly improve my skills. My biggest issue when it comes to knives is knowing which one is the best to use for whatever I’m cutting and then, actually getting started. I remember the first time I had to cut up a cantaloupe. I had no clue where to even begin and I ended up peeling it like an apple! Now, in defense of myself, I was 35 weeks pregnant at the time AND wasn’t a fruit eater. Pregnancy brain didn’t help and the only time a cantaloupe had been in my presence was at the annual family gatherings when someone brought it.

DesignPro Knives
As an ambassador I received the DesignPro™ 8″ Chef, 8″ Scalloped Bread and 5″ Scalloped Utility knives. The first thing I noticed about the knives (aside from the protective packaging being extremely difficult to open) was the distinctive handle on the knives. There is a comfortable place for your thumb to rest. I have small hands so I had plenty of room to grip the handled. My husband had a more difficult time with the scalloped utility knife but did fine with the others. I’m looking forward to hitting up our local farmers market on Friday and getting a bunch of yummy produce for the weekend so I can practice with them some more. We love to grill fresh vegetables and since there are only a few more weeks of grilling season left for us, I definitely want to take advantage of it!
If you’re interested in the Design Pro™ series from Chicago Cutlery, be sure to check out Amazon for competitive pricing. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can get the knives shipped to you with 2-day free shipping. How perfect is that?
Which knife do you find yourself using the most in the kitchen?
I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Chicago Cutlery and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Those look really nice! I’ve had the same knife set for the past 10 years I think and could definitely use a new set. I use the steak knives and chef knife the most.

Those knives look great. We use all of our knives, the serrated for bread and cutting tomatoes, our butcher knives for meat and carrots. I know I would benefit from knowing more about proper use and techniques, though.
