Master Bedroom Retreat Decorating Ideas

The two rooms I use the most in my house are my kitchen and my bedroom.  I’m always buying new things for my kitchen like fun new towels because fall is finally here and yummy smelling candles that make it seem like I baked something when I really haven’t.  My kitchen gets all the fun stuff  whereas my poor bedroom gets ignored.

Let me just defend myself and say the window coverings in my room came with the house we’re renting! I cannot be held responsible. :)  In all honestly, with moving to a brand new city, starting a new job and having some type of activity every weekend, I’ve neglected my poor bedroom.  The first thing I would do to this is update those window coverings.

In the 90′s (yes, I’m dating myself), I bought my first house and my first set of grown up bedroom furniture.  My furniture is that “cheap” stuff, imported from China as some of my friends would say. Well, this cheap stuff has lasted almost 20 years and it’s time for a change.  My current bedroom is smaller so I don’t have the luxury of the extra space the head and footboard take up.

I love my hardwood floors but in the morning when I’m getting ready, it would be nice to have a nice fluffy rug to stand on.  Maybe with a small settee? Someplace that I could sit down and easily put my shoes on.

If I won the HGTV Passport to Style Sweepstakes, I’d head right over to my World Market and completely redo my master bedroom.  Instead of the warm reds I’m used to, I’m ready for some soothing greys.

1. Courtney Bed | 2. Sophie Vintage Key Frame | 3. Cream/Gray Taryn Throw |

4. Brown/Grey Hand-Tufted Wavy Stripe Rug | 5. Augustus Library Shelf | 6. Charcoal Bori Curtain

The HGTV Passport to Style Sweepstakes runs from September 22 – October 26, 2012 and the Grand Prize package includes a $10,000 World Market shopping spree and a design consultation with an HGTV designer! There are also 3 lucky runner up prize winners who will receive a $1000 World Market gift card.  Think of the fun things you could buy for your home.  If you want to enter (which of course you do, have you seen the awesome stuff World Market has), enter online at World Market Sweepstakes or via their Facebook app.  And, ff you share the sweepstakes with 5 of your friends (via FB share or email) you can receive 5 additional bonus entries. This is part of the registration process when entering which makes it super simple. Users can also enter daily for more chances to win.

World Market also has an Explorer Program.  This is a customer rewards program where members earn exclusive perks, like coupons, offers, previews, and beyond.  For example, spend $100 on gourmet foods and non-alcoholic beverages and you will receive a $10 reward that you can use to purchasing almost anything in store or online. You can also earn FREE COFFEE Rewards (buy 6 12oz. bags and your 7th one is free)! Now I’m not a huge hot coffee drinker (love the iced stuff) but as someone who buys a lot of coffee for friends and family as gifts, this is a program I can get behind.

Now that I’ve got you all excited about redecorating your house AND getting free coffee, make sure you follow World Market on their social media channels to get updates on all their cool products and special promotions.  Now get entering! :)

  1. 90′s or not..it looks good to me. I more of a utilitarian person and not big on the glitz. If it’s for sleep, then it’s for sleep. I’m not going to live in the bed…lol

  2. I think the stuff you picked out is really cute, but why is some of it crossed out?

    • My broken link checker – which the links really weren’t broken but it should be fixed now. Thanks for letting me know!

  3. Very cute ideas – and I had a sleigh bed too! HA!

  4. I agree with you on creating a retreat in your bedroom. I was just watching the show Nashville on ABC and admired the bedroom set & thick pillows that was in once scene.

  5. That is super cute!! I love having a good bedroom!

  6. Oh, I love the keys and mirrors set up, that looks so nice!
