Can We Have Too Many Choices?
I’ve said before I’m a walking contradiction. I only buy organic dairy products yet I eat McDonalds like it was going out of business. I can be extremely motivated or extremely lazy, depending on the day. Sometimes, I’m extremely decisive. Other times, I couldn’t make a choice to save my life. And guess what? Today’s photo a day challenge made me think about the choices I have to make on a daily basis.
Take for example those cutting boards. I walked into HomeGoods (one of my FAVORITE stores) only to buy a cutting board. When I found the cutting board aisle, I was presented with so many choices, I had to stop and think about what I wanted to use it for. Not only would I be using this board for cutting (duh, right?), it would also serve as a backdrop for some of my food photography. That meant it had to be big and eliminated nearly half of my choices. Next, it had to contrast with my new “new to me” table, again limiting my choices. Finally, I was left with the perfect cutting board and luckily it was at the perfect price.
I do think we have way too many choices today (in some areas, not all) and only wonder what it will be like when my daughter becomes an adult with kids of her own. Do I really need to have 700 channels to choose from on the television? Probably not since I only watch five of them. Should I have bought that other cutting board as well? Yeah, probably….
What has been the most difficult choice you’ve made this year?

I hate that – I feel like I am spending too much time trying to pick something that should be grab and go. Grr
Yes there are too many choices sometimes! I hate when there’s too many good menu options but I’m overwhelmed or afraid it won’t be good so I just stick to my same old thing.
I do that too Darcy! Especially at the Cheesecake Factory, LOL! I scope out everyone’s food, ask the server what they had and then order my usual because I want to be sure I love my food.
