I like New Years resolutions.  I think if I set my mind to something, I can accomplish anything, however, I also like to be realistic.  Sure I may want to win the Chicago marathon but genetics are probably not going to allow that to happen.  So this year as I've looked back on the accomplishments, the good times, the disappointments and the times we wish we could call "do-over," I came up with this list for 2011:FamilyDo not hold them to my expectations, let them be who … [Read more...]

Almost to 100!

What, is it true?  I'm almost to 100 followers on Google Friend Connect?  How awesome is that?  Especially considering I thought I would be fortunate to make it to 25.  So, I'm asking for a belated Christmas present.  I'd love to get 100 followers by midnight on NYE (Eastern Standard Time).  If I make it to 100, I'll post the great giveaway that I've been hinting at.  So please help a fellow blogger out!  Ask your friends to become a follower on GFC … [Read more...]

Applied Labels Review

My daughter has been going to "school" since she was 12 weeks old.  When you have an infant in school, its a requirement that you pretty much label everything that you bring in.  The cute little onesie/pants outfit you just had to have?  Well, four other moms with baby girls also had to have it as well and if you want to keep yours after the first blowout or spit up, you better have labeled it.  All those premade bottles you bring each day?  They must be labeled with your baby's name, the date … [Read more...]

When Did We Start Allowing…

Let me start this post with declaring I AM A DOG LOVER.  Truly, I am.  Until last April when I had to put down my beloved Ivan, I had three dogs.  Two of them  rescues, one purebred (my husband's hunting hopes gone wrong).  If I was independently wealthy and had acres of land, I would have my own canine rescue.  So, no comments on how I must not be an animal lover. Today at the post office where I, along with a zillion other people, were mailing last minute cards and packages, I walked by a … [Read more...]

Grandma’s Remedies

My daughter was always a middle of the night pooper.  Usually she would wake up with a deposit in her diaper and seldom did a thought cross my mind.  Oh sure, occassionally I would think to myself, this kid needs to chew her food better but other than that, just a part of our normal morning routine.  Then, a few weeks ago, she changed her routine.  Apparently she listened when I told her "mommy doesn't have time for a morning poops" and began going at night.  At … [Read more...]

Donation Fatigue

Back to school time starts it off.  Every where you turn people, places, organizations are collecting school supplies for kids who would otherwise have none.  So me, understanding what it feels like to go to school with little or no supplies, grabs a few things every time I go to Target (which by my Quicken register is at least 3x per week).  That's in addition to the items I purposefully purchase to fill a backpack or the donation box at work.Just as the school supply needs die … [Read more...]

ReadiVac Power Broom – This One Sucks!

Haha, get it.  My attempt at humor. I like cleaning as much as the next person (please sense all kinds of sarcasm here) so the fact that ReadiVac has given me one of their 2-in-1 Corded Stick Vacs to giveaway is really quite humorous to me.  Especially since my husband is the clean freak in the household and I can count on my hands the number of times I have vacuumed our house but those are some great stories for another day... The 2-in-1 Corded ReadiVac Power Brown Stick Vac combines the … [Read more...]
