I know you thought I was a one-hit wonder. Trust me, you weren't the only one. Even though my husband didn't say it, he knows he thought it. After all, I've tried cake decorating (love it but takes too much time), golf (hated it, except the beverages involved), thought I wanted to start biking (couldn't do it, I'm a runner through and through) and yes, I have a sewing machine from FOUR years ago that I've never used. Well, guess what? Project #2 COMPLETED! I really wanted to post a … [Read more...]
Sew I Made A Skirt
Mae Minerals Review & Giveaway
I’m lazy when it comes to make-up. I usually won’t leave the house without it but I also won’t take the time to reapply during the day. So typically about 1:00 or so, any make-up I’ve put on in the morning has disappeared from my face. I’m fortunate though. I have a fairly even complexion and only the occasional blemish. However, I do have some annoying brown spots (on lentigos as we called them in the business) that I’m trying to fade with various products. So when Stephanie … [Read more...]
Food For Thought Friday – Organic on the Cheap
Like many of you, I want to feed my daughter the fruits and vegetables with the least amount of exposure to pesticides as possible. However I've found that its not always economically realistic to do this. Buying organic produce can add 20-40% to your bill depending on the item you buy, whether its in season, etc. Even living in the South, I can't maintain my garden year round so I have to rely on the grocery store or farmer's market for my produce. A few years … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day
If you move to a new city and don't know a soul, my first suggestion is you check out Meetup.com and join some groups in which you have an interest. One of the best things I ever did after having my daughter was join a couple of mommy groups. This year I skipped work (well not entirely, I got up early and worked a couple hours from home and then worked during my daughter's naptime) to attend a Valentine's Day playdate hosted by our group organizer. Everyone brought a dish to share. Being a … [Read more...]
Food For Thought Friday – Blue Cheese
Fifteen years ago if you would have told me I would be a fan of blue cheese, I would have told said you need medicated. Blue cheese stunk, I wasn't a fan of the crumbly texture and it was expensive. As a broke college student the only type of cheese I was buying came in slices and was pre-wrapped. Then something happened, I went on a date. On that date I had my first steak with blue cheese butter and I became the biggest fan of blue cheese you could find. And coincidentally enough, one … [Read more...]
Kiddo Tags: Social Kiddos
My daughter has been going to “school” since she was 12 weeks old (she’s now 18 months). Depending on what time I drop her off in the morning, I see different parents dropping off their kids. We always exchange pleasantries and talk about the kids. We have different names at school than we do other places. At school, I’m “B’s Mom” and I talk to “Logan’s Mom.” Let’s face it, there comes a point when it is just awkward to ask another parent’s name. After all, I’ve been talking to them for … [Read more...]

The Original Country Bob’s Cookbook
Image courtesy of Country Bob'sI love getting snail mail. There is something to be said about getting an unexpected card or letter in the mail. To my surprise and delight, today when I opened the mailbox I had a box from Country Bob's. I had no idea what is was but knew due to the shape and size, it wasn't a bottle of sauce. After shaking it (yes, I always shake packages that I receive and I'm not sure why, habit I guess), I realized it must be a book of some sort and it … [Read more...]
Sick of the Sickness
Poor kid. Sent home last Tuesday with a mysterious rash.Allergic reaction. To what you ask? No clue. After begging her pediatrician's office to see her (they are swamped with a stomach flu outbreak) she gets some Benadryl and a note to return to school. I fear she'll get sick from the doctor's office. Friday, same week, gets sent home as she has a fever. Once she's home, acts like nothing is wrong. Stays up until 9:30 which is WAY past her … [Read more...]
