I'm sitting by myself in my hotel room watching my Iowa Hawkeyes get embarrassed by the Oklahoma Sooners. Because it sometimes hurts to watch the game, its the perfect time to reflect on my New Years resolutions for 2012. Last year I think I was being too idealistic. It must have been the water, the air or maybe it was because I consumed too many organic products. Whatever the reason, this year, my New Years resolutions are going to be easy to achieve. Not easy to achieve as in "each day … [Read more...]

How To Find The Best Christmas Lights

I love Christmas lights. Like many people, I have memories of my parents packing my brothers and I in the car and driving around the "nice" neighborhoods oohing and aahing over the spectacular Christmas light displays. Back then most cars didn't have bucket seats and it no one cared whether or not you wore a seat belt so it was easy to move from window to window in hopes of getting the best view. We also would attend the annual Courthouse Lighting. This year marked the 100th anniversary … [Read more...]

Candy Buckeyes

Instead of having a groom's cake, my then fiance (now husband) and I opted to go with Candy Buckeyes. We had a small wedding with only immediate family and close friends and felt a wedding cake plus a groom's cake would have been overkill. And since my husband is from Ohio, it only made sense. I'm not sure exactly when friends started requested buckeyes at Christmas time but every year they are now on the baking list. Candy Buckeyes Ingredients: 1 stick unsalted butter, room … [Read more...]
Rizzoli and Isles – All New Mondays at 10/9C
In tonight's episode of Rizzoli and Isles, competitive dance goes a step too far (pun intended) when the mother of a star performer is stabbed to death at a competition. Rizzoli and team search for clues but soon realize this mother is a little "two-faced." Dance competition can be fierce but this is an entirely new way of saving face. Korsak also has issues of his own when his stepson is accused of shooting a cop. Last week we heard the best one-liner of the season, "It's naked day at the … [Read more...]
