Color, Click, Capture Photography Challenge – Week 9 {White}

Color, Click, Capture

Welcome to Week 9 of the Color, Click, Capture photography challenge hosted by East9thStreet, A Helicopter Mom, Nap Time Is My Time and Sunshine and Sippy Cups.  This week our color is WHITE. The only white thing I could come up with was a bowl of popcorn.  This year we didn't have much of any snow, so that wasn't an option.  My white tile floors are NEVER clean so there was no way I was showing a picture of that! Our tip this week comes from CMT Photography.  Christy M. Tsiantos is a … [Read more...]

iHealth Scale Review

iHealth Scale

You’ve heard me complain about my weight many times.  Usually it’s when I’m telling you about a new recipe that is low-fat or healthy.  What I don’t tell you (and I’m not entirely sure why) is that I’m an avid runner and that’s one of the reasons I’m so self-critical about my weight.  In my mind, I run several miles so weight shouldn’t be an issue but we all know it is.  Exercise is just one component of maintaining a healthy weight and deciding to quit shoving food in my mouth is the other.  … [Read more...]

Curious George Dance Contest #CuriousGeorgeMoms

Curious George Dance Contest

My daughter can bust a move.  She used to make us play one particular CD over and over and had a slightly different dance routine to each song.  Some had their own hand motions (Itsy Bitsy Spider) while others were entirely her own.  Who knew you could dance to the ABC song? Dancing to music is one way my daughter stays moving.  In the summer time it's so hot and buggy (yes, buggy - mosquitos are terrible here), I have to be creative in the ways that keep her physically active.  Like most … [Read more...]

The Nickelodeon Suites Resort Review

Nickelodeon Suites Resort

For our trip to Orlando we had the opportunity to stay at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort.  When we pulled up to the resort, the first thing we saw were the cast of characters.  My daughter LOVES Dora (it was the first cartoon that she ever watched).  We purposely never told her we were staying at a "Dora" hotel because we wanted to see the look on her face.  She didn't disappoint. :) The checkin process was fairly quick and easy.  We were given a copy of the Nick Hotel bus schedule to the … [Read more...]

Finding A Little Family Time With TCBY Frozen Yogurt #TCBYGrocery #CBias

TCBY - French Vanilla

About six months ago we started toying with the decision to take our family to Disney World for Spring Break.  At first, I vetoed the idea.  Crowds are NOT my thing and thoughts of, "It's A Small World" started to play out in my head.  I finally relinquished and embraced the idea.  Like most parents planning a vacation of this caliber, I researched until I was sick of researching and I planned until I was tired of planning.  I finally came up with an itinerary that I thought the entire family … [Read more...]

Color, Click, Capture Photography Challenge – Week 8 {Brown}

Color, Click, Capture

Welcome to Week 8 of the Color, Click, Capture photography challenge hosted by East9thStreet, A Helicopter Mom, Nap Time Is My Time and Sunshine and Sippy Cups.  This week our color is BROWN. Brown is such an easy color to capture.  I spent today at Animal Kingdom in Orlando and encountered several brown images that caught my attention.  This first picture is of a tree in the Africa section.  I don't remember the exact name of the tree but it is bare 90% of the time. Whenever I see a fence I … [Read more...]

Night 1: Sleep Is Overrated

So last night was our first night officially on "vacation" however, I think the word officially should be taken lightly.  When we first started planning this trip, we knew we were going to drive.  Airfare for a family of 4 was over $2000, which when you compare to $350 that we'd spend on gas, hotels and food, just didn't seem reasonable.  Airline miles don't mean as much as they used to and luckily, hotel points still mean something. My daughter rocked on the car ride.  She napped, she didn't … [Read more...]

Confessions Of A Super Mom

Am I a super mom?  Geez, that's a loaded question.  I was reading a post by Cristina at Tailor Made Momma which made me start to think about that very question. In May of last year I went through a lot of transitions.  I quit a job I loved, moved to a state that I thought I would hate and decided to take on the most challenging job of my life, becoming a stay at home mom.  Many of my friends thought I was crazy.  Hell, I thought I was crazy.  But somewhere deep inside of me was the desire to … [Read more...]

My Very First Reuben Sandwich

Reuben Sandwich

It is hard to believe that I'm 30-something and had NEVER had a reuben sandwich until today.  I think it goes back to an experience in high school that I had with sauerkraut. Let's just say when you think what you're about to eat is shredded hash browns and instead, you get fermented cabbage, it doesn't go over well.  And why I couldn't tell the difference is a story you'll have to make up on your own. :) This St. Patrick's Day were loading up the family and heading to Florida so see Mickey, … [Read more...]

Low Fat Taco Salad Recipe

Taco Salad chicken

Who doesn't love a good taco salad?  There have been many nights that I've convinced myself that a plateful of tortilla chips, some greasy ground beef, Velveeta and a few shards of lettuce was a salad but really, who was I kidding?  Some shredded lettuce sprinkled on top does not make a salad.  Wanting to make a low fat taco salad that was a little bit healthier, I decided to ditch the beef and reduce the amount of chips.  This version is definitely healthier and like anything, you can fatten it … [Read more...]
