Education Begins At Home With Teach My Preschooler {Review}

My daughter is a little sponge.  She amazes me every day with the things she learns without being formally taught.  Just tonight she picked up her Finding Nemo book and pointed to the letters on the book cover and said, ” N-E-M-O, mommy that spells Nemo!”  Now I’m sure the only reason she knew that spelled Nemo is because when I read to her I drag my finger along the words as I speak them.  Last month she was spelling STOP to me because she saw a stop sign in her Little Blue Truck book.  This just shows me that education begins at home and as a parent, I want to nurture and encourage my daughter’s desire to learn.  And I can easily do that with Teach My Preschooler.

Teach My Preschooler is geared towards children ages 3-6.  The learning kit is divided into four sections: Ready To Read, Ready for Print, Ready For Math and Ready For 1-100.  Each section has everything you need to teach your preschool these valuable skills.  What’s great about this kit is that its unplugged.  No batteries, no chargers or DVDs.  Everything comes in a plastic carrying case and can be pulled out at a moments notice.

Ready To Read offers a head start in learning to read. Just 20 minutes a day with the award winning Teach My Preschooler reading tools and your little one can master letter sounds, reading aloud and 60 vocabulary words! Use the 10 step reading system, the flashcards, the flashcard holder and the reward tin to encourage early reading.

Ready To Print offers a head start in learning to print. Just 20 minutes a day with the award winning Teach My Preschooler printing tools and your little one can master printing uppercase & lowercase letters as well as numbers to 100! Use the magic drawing board, the print guide and the transparencies together to master the skills and enjoy some fun, educational play.

Ready for 1-100 offers a head start in learning numbers from 1-100. Just 20 minutes a day with the award winning Teach My Preschooler counting tools and your little one can learn to recognize and count from numbers 1-100! Use the coordinated book, poster, flashcards and foam numbers together to master counting skills and enjoy fun, educational play.

Ready For Math offers a head start in early math. Just 20 minutes a day with the award winning Teach My Preschooler math tools and your little one can master adding and subtracting from 0-5. Use the flip books, poster, foam counters and foam numbers together to master early math skills and enjoy fun, educational play.

When I looked at the various Teach My kits, I debated on getting the Teach My Toddler or Teach My Preschooler.  My daughter won’t be three until the end of August but she pretty much knew all the Teach My Toddler learning objectives so I opted for the kit that would stimulate her more.

The first section that we worked on together was Ready for 1-100.  I tried to follow the tips for success provided in the kit by working with it away from other toys and  in an area where we could spread out and focus.  I let my daughter be the guide as to how long she wanted to work on the material.  To keep her looking forward to it each day, I didn’t want to make it feel like it was an educational activity.  I wanted it to be all about fun!

My daughter enjoyed working with the kit and especially liked the train flash cards.  She likes to have everything matching and in order (I blame Montessori school) so it was fun watching her realize that not only did the train cars need to go in number order but they also matching colors.  Some of the other sections were a little more difficult for her such as Ready To Print but she’ll get there.  I can already tell the kit has helped her with her fine motor skills as she’s doing better at coloring within the lines.  One area that she really excelled in was the letter sounds!  I guess singing the alphabet song every night before bed has paid off! :)

As a mom I want to be sure that I’m providing education opportunities for my daughter that are fun and effective.  The Teach My series gives you all the tools you need in one easy kit making it convenient and cost-effective.  Now “sneaking” 20-30 minutes of school time is simple and easy and to do.

    That looks like a great set! I especially like that it’s not electronic. My 8 and 4 year olds are so different and I’m really trying to figure out how to help my 4 year old with her alphabet.
