Apple Cider Tea Mocktail

I know my daughter is coming down with something when she grabs her blanket and her baby and lays on my lap.  My first instinct, after giving her a big hug, was to put my hand on her head to check for a fever.  Mom’s intuition was right, she felt a little hot.  She told me she was thirsty but she didn’t want the usual drinks so I decided I would make her something special that the entire family could enjoy, an apple cider tea mocktail.

4 simple ingredients #FamilyTeaTime

I’ve been working a lot lately so I didn’t have any of the ingredients on hand, unless you count water. :)  At this point my daughter had migrated her way to her dad’s laps (aren’t laps the best when you’re sick) and I decided to head out to Walmart and pick up the ingredients for our drink.

Aren’t these little trees adorable! They were right on display as I walked into Walmart (see my full shopping experience ). I think it’s a fabulous idea to give something like this instead of poinsettias for the holidays! When you’re done using it as a decorative piece, you can then plant it in your yard and hopefully watch it grow year after year.  My head started spinning with all the different ways I could use these during the holidays and then I remembered, I was there to buy ingredients for my apple cider tea mocktails!

Now running for the tea aisle because I wasted so much time thinking about what I would do with those cute little trees, I grabbed some Lipton Tea & Honey To Go packets.  These are perfect for me to throw in my purse when out and about.  I’ve also been told that Lipton Tea & Honey has pitcher sized packets which I determined to find!

By the time I came home, my daughter was ready for bed.  You know when a 3-year is asking to go “night-night,” something is wrong.  I promised her I would make her a surprise the next day but I decided to do a practice round first.  Making my mocktail was super easy to do.  Just a few simple ingredients, a little mixing and you have a warm, soothing drink for those chilly nights.

The next day, I made the drink for my daughter and after playing with the cinnamon stick for a while, she finally tried it.  She called it her “medicine” and said we could only drink it when she’s sick.  I have a feeling she’ll be “sick” quite a bit this winter. :)
