What I Am Thankful For

Depending on the time of day you’re reading this, I’m either chasing a 3-year around the house trying to get her to wear a bow in her hair, stuffing my face with Thanksgiving dinner or sitting in front of the television, watching football and wondering if I should root for the Patriots or the Jets and trying to figure out why Eva Longoria and Mark Sanchez broke up. :)

Seriously, I’m thankful for a lot of things this year.

The opportunity to live in Arkansas.  Though I did complain quite often about living in a dry county and not having a lot of things to do, I realized its not about the things, its about the people you meet and the experiences you share.  I met some amazing ladies are outstanding wives, mothers, sisters and friends.  They all come from different walks in life and their stories will amaze you and make you wish you had the drive and determination that they do.  Yes, Rebecca, Lauren, Kate, Sarah, Dori, Emily and Erica, I’m talking about you.

I’m eternally grateful for my job(s), past and present.  Throughout my professional career, I’ve always worked for the best physicians.  I’m not sure how it happened, but it always did.  College Hill OB/GYN and Moeller Dermatology in Wichita, KS is where I cut my healthcare teeth.  Eastover OB/GYN is where I honed those skills.  I’ve learned so much from the physicians I worked with over the years and I cherish the friendships I’ve developed.

And I’m really thankful for my family.  My daughter who makes me laugh with her “silly face,” my brothers who finally are finally starting to grow up (lol) and my parents who never judge, just take everything in stride.  I also extremely thankful for my in-laws (that would be mom, dad, bro and sis) for the support they’ve shown my husband over the last year.  Without them, he wouldn’t be where he is today.

What I am thankful for is the ability to have choices, make a difference and create opportunities.  Nothing is ever given to you, you must work hard for it.  That couldn’t be more evident as I look at people around me.

In the spirit of Abraham Lincoln, I wish everyone a Thanksgiving filled with warm hearts, full bellies and the sounds of laughter.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
