This time of year is busy for everyone but it is especially crazy for physician offices. Everyone and their dog (well, if that dog has insurance) wants to get in before the end of the year because they’ve finally met their deductible and they have some extra time off. I’ve been overwhelmed with projects at my practice so today instead of eating my lunch while working at my desk, I decided to really take a lunch break and have a lunchtime quickie with PEOPLE Magazine.
Monday and Tuesday of this week we had record breaking temperatures in Chicago. I contemplated turning on my air condition…in December! Unfortunately those temperatures didn’t stick around and of all days for me to run to CVS on my lunch break, I picked the cold one. But wanting to read something besides financial reports and the 2013 CMS budget cuts (fun stuff I tell ya), I bundled up and took the 2 block walk to grab the latest edition of PEOPLE Magazine and grabbed some soup from the cafe in my building.
PEOPLE Magazine is the one celebrity magazine that I read cover-to-cover. The cover stories always intrigue me. Brad Pitt is turning 50? I never would have guessed it only because I think every celebrity has to be my age.
I may be weird but my favorite part of the magazine is the very first and last pages. And because I have to stay up with all the celebrity news, the Passages page in the magazine is one of the first things I read. I was sad to hear that Art Ginsburg, aka Mr. Food, passed away and had no clue that Britney Spears was in her 30s. Geez, she’s been around THAT long?!
I also checked out some low-cost gift ideas. These picks for under $20 are perfect ideas for holiday gift exchanges! The Delectable Delicacies soaps sound good enough to eat and I bet they smell wonderful.
After attending the office holiday party later that evening, I came home, spent time with my daughter before she went to bed and then read the rest of my PEOPLE Magazine. Relaxing with my PEOPLE Magazine made the perfect ending to long day. Now to do it all over again tomorrow.

I love People Magazine.
Wow I had no idea brad pit was almost 50. Not surprised about brittney though as she was “big” when I was around 10-12 so that seems about right to me.

I love People Magazine. It is one of my guilty pleasures
I love escaping with magazines and People is one of my favorites.
People is one of my favorite escapes.
I love People and read it all the time. It’s my favorite magazine!
I read people all the time, although I usually read in waiting rooms or checkout lines!
I only read it when I am in the waiting room. I get annoyed if my appointment starts and I have finished reading.
