My typical day starts at 6:30 am. I’m not a morning person. Never have been and despite what people keep telling me, I never will.  That means for 20 minutes I hit snooze on my iPhone and then finally roll out of bed. Getting ready doesn’t take me that long since I cut my hair off (have I shared THAT pic with ya’ll?). After that, it’s getting my daughter up and convincing her to let her dad get her ready for school. I’m not sure why but she thinks that only I can dress her but she does. I then grab the 8:07 train into the city and have a full day of work at my day job only to come home some nights at 7-7:30.

Healthy Choice Fresh Ingredients

Making The Healthy Choice

On those late nights, all I want to do is come home and relax a little bit with my daughter. That means I need a quick way to get dinner on the table.  I get tired of picking up take out and running through a drive thru. It’s expensive and usually not the best for us health wise. I’ve been turning to Healthy Choice® frozen meals because they take minutes to cook, taste great and have the portion control that I desperately need in my life. I used to think that eating frozen meals wasn’t good for me but as with all things in life, there are healthy frozen meals and ones that aren’t so good for you.

Frozen Food Myths

Myth #1: Frozen foods are heavily processed and not made with fresh ingredients. Maybe some are like that but not Healthy Choice®. Try the Crustless Chicken Pot Pie and tell me that the veggies aren’t fresh and delicious. I dare you. The vegetables are picked at the optimal time so they are fresh & crisp. Most even go from the farm to the freezer within 24 hours.

Myth #2: Frozen foods taste like, well frozen food and are uninspired.  Um hello, have you seen the new Top Chef inspired meals? How does this sound: Chicken & Potatoes with Peach BBQ Sauce or Chicken Fresca with Chardonnay? Healthy Choice recipes are creative and use apples instead of sugar to create sweetness or splashes of red wine to kick up the flavor instead of salt.

Myth #3: If you’re watching your weight or want to eat healthy, you shouldn’t eat frozen foods. I don’t know about you but give me low fat, healthy anything and I completely blow it because I eat enough for 3 people. Then, to make myself feel better about how much I ate, I totally underestimate the calories I’ve consumed.  With Healthy Choice® meals, I know exactly what the calorie, fat and carb count is. And because they meals are a true one-person portion, I don’t have to worry about eating more than my body really needs. Healthy Choice has several meals that are under 400 calories, talk about built in portion control!

Healthy Choice Frozen Meals

Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s created a video that follows two women on the adventures of their daily lives, imagining how new technologies will impact their routines, especially in the grocery store. From apps that store your grocery list to recipe research on Pinterest, the landscape of shopping is quickly changing. With various resources available to consumers, they are now, more than ever, interested in learning where their food is coming from.

ConAgra Foods frozen meals give families access to real ingredients like crunchy, freshly cut vegetables, homemade pasta and ripe fruit year-round. Just like most people blanch veggies before freezing them – ConAgra Foods does too – to help preserve color, texture and keep them fresh!

Give it a try sometime! Marie Callender’s hearty pot pies are filled with tender meat, freshly cut vegetables and Marie’s authentic golden, flaky crust. And Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.

  11. Frozen meals like Healthy Choices are the way I stay on track. I cook from scratch for dinner most nights and I am NOT interested in spending a lot of time in the kitchen for making lunch. I love that when I have them in my freezer, I can make a quick lunch that’s a perfect amount of calories for me.
