It’s the Friday before Christmas and I’ll admit, I didn’t start shopping until a few days ago. I’m not usually a procrastinator when it comes to Christmas shopping but this year, I’ve been a slacker. Between moving, starting a new job and even having some fun here or there, it’s been a busy time. All I can say is thank you for Amazon Prime.
After going through my list, I realized that I left someone out. Some people are really easy to buy for, others can be a bit challenging. I find that if I don’t have a specific item to buy, I usually make up a fun gift basket. Since I’m in the land of huge movie theaters (if you ever come to Wichita, you must go to the Warren), I thought it would be fun to make a movie night gift basket.
Now to make a movie night gift basket, you need a few basic things. First you need a container to put everything in. I was going to go with a basic large cardboard popcorn bucket but then my friend spotted these super cool, retro looking popcorn bowls at a local store. Part of me wants to keep them for myself and I might. Shhh, don’t tell.
After you select your container, you need tons of snacks because after all, one of the best parts of watching a movie is the food you get to eat. Target is 7 minutes from my house (yes I’ve timed it and that is door-to-door) so I headed there to grab the classic movie snacks: Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn, candy, and because this is for a movie night in, some Swiss Miss hot chocolate. Right now Target is offering some kick butt coupons such as:
-
Save $3 when you buy 4 (FOUR) Orville 6-packs
-
Save $1 when you buy 5 (FIVE) Slim Jim Giant Twin Packs
-
Save $1 off 4 (FOUR) Swiss Miss 8ct or Larger
When you make your movie night gift basket, be sure to try all the foods you buy. OK, maybe this isn’t a requirement but it’s a fun recommendation. I had not eaten a Slim Jim in years so I tried one…or two. And I may or may not of had to go back and buy more Junior Mints. I feel I should plead the fifth.
To prepare your container, put paper or some type of stuffing in the bottom of the container so your items peak out the top. Then arrange your goodies with the larger items in the back. I bought a movie to add to the gift basket but to save some money, you could opt to give a gift certificate to Red Box or some place like that.
Most important when creating your gift basket is to make sure you let the recipient know that you’re available to participate in their movie night. Because someone has to help eat all those Slim Jims. #EasyGifts
I love Family Movie Night at our house! Love popcorn! And Slim Jim’s haven’t had one of those in a long time! YUM!!
First of all, I love your baskets! Where did you find those? Second, that’s a movie night gift basket I would LOVE to receive! So cute!
I found them at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They are so much fun. Makes me want to have a movie night, every night!
This would make the perfect gift for quite a few people on my list and it looks so custom!
What a wonderful gift basket! Love that movie and love the popcorn tins even more.
