About Sarah Bird

Sarah Head Shot I always find about me pages interesting. As bloggers, we’re supposed to write these for the PR reps who spend hours searching the blogosphere for just the right fit but in reality, this information is pretty superficial and really isn’t “about Sarah”. So to humor myself (and make sure the PR reps find the answers they need) here are the facts: I’m single (I’ve pretty much refused to say divorced), with a 4-year old daughter and one dog living in Wichita, Kansas. I have a masters degree in healthcare administration from Ohio University, though I’ve never set foot on their campus. I’m a lifestyle and food blogger with a passion for most things outdoors. I believe in being responsible to the earth, that being physically active is a must and that all animals should be spayed or neutered.

Now for those of you who want to know more about me than the simple facts above, have a seat and grab a drink. :)

I am stubborn. Once I set my mind to something, I figure out a way to make it happen, which is probably why I’m non-committal on some things. Some people have told me I have a type A personality, I would argue that only comes out when it’s necessary. My daughter is the single most important thing to me in the world. For someone who never wanted children, she has been my anchor since the day she was born. She is 100% me, minus her fascination with the color pink.

I am a Diet Coke addict, prefer beer over wine and try to never judge a book by it’s cover. I hate pictures of myself and therefore, will never be a beauty or fashion blogger. For the life of me I cannot stomach Greek yogurt. Please don’t ever try to make me eat it.

In 2007 I left Wichita and thought I would never move back. In November 2013, I did just that. I left the big city of Chicago to return to chain restaurants, east vs. west mentalities and to the healthcare administration job that I left. Now I can admit that moving back to Kansas was one of the best decisions I have ever made but trust me, it took a lot of diet pop to come to that conclusion. 😉 If you want to know even more, you can read some of my “our life” posts. What you’ll learn is I’m real. I make mistakes and I try to learn from them.

You’ll find me writing at East9thStreet and my food blog, East9thStreetEats and these other great sites in the blogosphere. As a content creator and brand promoter, I help brands raise awareness and engage readers.  I’ve also partnered with some a group of fantastic bloggers and formed the Noise Girls, a group of dedicated female bloggers who have come together to raise brand awareness and build buzz through themed social media events.
