Summertime is coming. I know it is because we went from 70 degrees one day to snow the next. Crazy weather like that always happens in the midwest and that means that those hot and humid temperatures are just around the corner, so I’m on the hunt for some new crisp and fruity wines. While the majority of my friends switch back and forth between reds in the winter and whites in the summer, I stick with whites year round.

By no means am I a wine connoisseur. In fact, I didn’t even know how to spell connoisseur and had to Google it. I couldn’t tell you what oaky means and I’m not sure how wine sits on the back of your tongue because mine goes straight down my throat. What I do know about wine is it has to go down smoothly without leaving my mouth feel parched. It has to have just the right amount of sweetness for my palette and it has to be around $10 a bottle (or less). I’m partial to Pinot Grigio and that’s why I only have a picture of the Brancott Estates Sauvignon Blanc…because the Pinot Grigio was pretty tasty and therefore, didn’t make the trip to Iowa (where that whole 70 degrees and snow thing happened).

I also feel that if you drink wine, you need to have some sort of appetizer to go along with it. Because Brancott Estates Flight Song varietals have 20% less calories, I felt it was perfectly fine to make some blue cheese appetizers and eat as many as I wanted. I do believe that if you have a glass of wine, you should eat something. After all, people get paid a lot of money to tell us what wines to drink with which foods. I would hate to put someone out of a job…

I have never heard of this brand of wine before but it sounds amazing. My husband and I are running low so we will have to add this to our must try list. Thanks for the tip!

I love that you suggested an appetizer as a complement. My family is always on the lookout for something tasty to snack on! These blue cheese appetizers look really good too! (and our weather is doing the rollercoaster here in KY too! but i know summer weather will be here very soon!)

Wow, that’s great that this has less calories! Your photos are beautiful. I laughed at the “I’m no wine connoisseur” bit! This sounds like a lovely wine.

I will have to try this. I pretty much only like whites, blushes and Muscados. I do understand what you mean about a wine leaving your mouth feeling parched! Some make you feel like you’ve been walking in a desert for days with no water!
